SBI PO Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria which candidates need to fulfil in order to apply for the SBI PO exam are listed below:

1. Nationality 

  • Should be a citizen of India. 
  • Nepal or Bhutan candidates are also eligible. 
  • Refugees from Tibet who came to India before 1 January 1962 for settling permanently in India. 
  • Persons of Indian origin who migrated from countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam, or East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, and Zaire are also eligible. 

2. Age Limit 

  • Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age. 
  • (They should be born between 2 April 1995 and 1 April 2004) 
  • Relaxation in upper age limit is provided for reserved categories as per government rules:

3. Educational Qualification 

  • Candidates must have completed their graduation from a recognised university or any qualification recognised by the Central Government. 
  • Final year or semester students can also apply, but they must provide proof of passing the degree at the time of interview. 

4. Number of Attempts 

  • UR / EWS: Four attempts  
  • UR (PwBD) / EWS (PwBD) / OBC / OBC (PwBD): Seven attempts  
  • SC / ST (including PwBD): No limit

The process of applying for the SBI PO exam 2026 is listed below:

Step 3: Open “Current Openings” to see job notifications  

Step 4: Click on the option “Recruitment for Probationary Officer (PO)”  

Step 5: Download and read the official notification carefully.

SBI PO Selection Process and Exam Pattern 2026 

The SBI PO selection process has three stages in which candidates must clear each stage to move forward. The exam is conducted in online mode, and the pattern for each stage is given below. 

Stage 1: Preliminary Exam (Qualifying Stage) 

This is the first stage of the exam. It is qualifying in nature, and marks are not counted in the final merit list.

  • Negative Marking: 1/4th mark deducted for each wrong answer

The admit card for the three stages of SBI PO Exam is released separately by the bank. The process of downloading the admit card or call letter is listed below:

  • On inserting the correct details, the admit card will be displayed on the screen.

  1. Is the SBI PO Exam bilingual?

    A: Yes, the SBI PO Exam is bilingual. You can choose to read and write the answers to the questions in either Hindi or English. However, it should be kept in mind that the English Language section will be available in English only.

  2. Is there any negative marking in the SBI PO examination?

    A: Yes, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. Hence, if you get wrong answers to 4 questions, you will lose 1 mark.

    A: Yes, there is fixed timing for each section of the SBI PO exam. You will have to answer the questions in different sections of the exam, within the stipulated time.
